WHAT IF SOMEONE DISPUTES THE CONTENT
IN MY DELIVERY RECEIPT?
In the event of a dispute of the delivery status
or content of a Registered E-mail®, forward
a copy of the Delivery Receipt of the e-mail in
question to the recipient who is disputing the
validity. The person with the dispute can then
forward the Delivery Receipt to the RPost Registration
Systems at verify@rpost.net for authentication.
The RPost Registration Systems decrypt the original
e-mail and all attachments from the Delivery Receipt.
If the Delivery Receipt is un-tampered, the RPost
Registration Systems will e-mail a Receipt Authentication™
to the person who requested it. The Receipt Authentication™
re-presents the transmission data, original content,
and delivery status of the original Registered
E-mail® . Attached to the Receipt Authentication™
is the original e-mail message including attachments
exactly as they were when sent to the RPost Registration
Systems for processing. The Delivery Receipt is
the only permanent record of your e-mail that
you will receive. Be sure to hold on to it in
the electronic form - do not print it and then
delete.
WHAT IF I WANT THE E-MAIL VERIFIED YEARS
LATER?
As long as you keep a digital copy of the delivery
receipt in Message Format, you can verify the
Delivery Receipt of the e-mail at anytime and
as many times as necessary.
DOES REGISTERED E-MAIL® USE PUBLIC
KEY INFRASTRUCTURE (PKI)
TECHNOLOGY TO MAKE E-MAIL MORE PRIVATE?
No, however, the RPost system is compatible with
standard public key infrastructure techniques
and uses encryption techniques internally. To
verify an RPost Receipt, a user is only required
to forward that receipt to the address verify@rpost.net.
The user will receive a notice of the receipt's
validity by e-mail. RPost, proving the authenticity
of the e-mail, will digitally seal this verification
notice. This means that receipts can be passed
freely among interested parties and any person
holding the electronic receipt may independently
authenticate its contents and transmission data.
It means, as well, that users can validate receipts
from even the most primitive mail clients, during
the lifetime of the receipt in electronic form.
