WHAT IF THE RECEIVER REFUSES TO PROVIDE A READ RECEIPT™ WHEN ASKED?

Outlook and other mail clients have a setting to decide how to respond to requests for read receipts. The three main options in Outlook are to "always send a response", "never send a response" and to "ask before sending a response" (Default setting). Many people find it annoying to be asked for a response and/or do not want a response sent out for anonymity reasons and thus set their setting to "never send a response." In this case, it deactivates all standard mail client return receipts. Other Outlook and AOL pitfalls include the fact that their receipts generally only work when sent to receivers within the same platform or same intranet. Further, these receipts are returned as text files that can be altered and hold little evidentiary value. By comparison, RPost "speaks" to the mail server, so regardless of the mail client setting or if a person presses the button NOT to send a read response, Registered E-mail® can prove legal delivery of that e-mail. Often, RPost can determine when e-mail was opened, regardless of whether or not the receiver chooses to send a read receipt. RPost operates independent of typical mail client settings.

WHY DO I NOT ALWAYS GET A READ RECEIPT™?

Read Receipts™ are delivered when the receiver has opened the e-mail and can only be reported if the recipient's server security and privacy settings allow RPost to gather this information. Keep in mind, the receiver may never open the e-mail and thus there would not be a Read Receipt™ in that case. No Read Receipt™ will be sent if in the Delivery Status area of the Delivery Receipt it says "Opened".
