LOS ANGELES—March 25, 2008—RPost, the leader in
managed outbound messaging with its flagship Registered E-mail® service
suite, today announced the availability of SideNote
™, a
first-of-its-kind service that allows the sender to include private
notes on Registered E-mail messages that are visible only to CC and BCC
recipients. RPost's new patent pending service, SideNote, allows e-mail
senders to manage private or sensitive communication, along with general
group communication, in a single transmission, which eliminates the need
to forward multiple copies of the same or new e-mail to various parties.
SideNote delivers greater efficiency in electronic communications and
allows businesses to derive more value from their e-mail applications.
Today, employees are drowning in e-mail. The Radicati Group reported
that in 2006 the average corporate e-mail user received 126 e-mail
messages per day, an increase of 55 percent since 2003. Typical business
users send e-mails to multiple parties, including copying and blind
copying co-workers and third parties, frequently as part of a “CYA”
maneuver. Often the sender then goes into the Sent Items folder, locates
the original message and forwards a copy with a specific note to add
context—commonly to the original CC or BCC addressees. RPost’s SideNote
service eliminates the extra steps involved in this process and reduces
the amount of traffic to the e-mail server.
“SideNote is a deceptively simple, yet powerful way to improve users'
experience when performing everyday e-mail tasks,” said Richi Jennings,
an analyst at Ferris Research. “The alternative without SideNote is
messy, and causes extra 'busy' work, with room for error. There is a
very real cost associated with that loss in productivity.”
How It Works
SideNote is built into RPost’s Registered E-mail platform and is simple
to use. When sending a Registered E-mail message, users simply:
• Address and type the message content as usual
from their regular e-mail application
• Select the “Send Registered” button and the
SideNote option appears
• Add the SideNote text and select CC and/or BCC
addresses as applicable
• Press Send to complete the transmission
When the primary recipient (in the To line) receives the Registered
E-mail message with the SideNote feature engaged, he or she sees only
the original message without the sender’s special annotated
side-message. However, when the CC or BCC recipients receive this same
message, they see the separate SideNote message above the original
message, adding context for the copied recipients.
RPost’s SideNote service delivers a new level of efficiency to e-mail
workflow that can save time in managing e-mail communications by
decreasing e-mail volume and improving overall collaboration.
“‘Death by e-mail’ is a common plight business users face as they
struggle to maintain control of in-boxes riddled with too many
meaningless and redundant messages, which often obscure the important
communications,” said Zafar Khan, CEO of RPost. “RPost’s new SideNote
service makes it easy for our customers to get the right message to the
right parties in the most efficient manner possible, without the hassle
of sending multiple e-mails, easing the burden on recipients.”
About RPost’s Registered E-mail Service
RPost’s Registered E-mail service provides legally valid evidence of
precisely what e-mail content and attachments were sent and received, by
whom and when. At its core, RPost’s pay-as-you-go service includes Legal
Proof™ of e-mail content, delivery and time-stamping. Offered at a flat
per e-mail price, which is about the cost of a postage stamp, RPost
service has been tested, accredited and is used daily by the U.S.
federal government since 2003. SideNote is fully integrated into the
Registered E-mail suite of services and is now available at no extra
charge.
Unlike hardware or software solutions, RPost delivers on-demand service
that saves its customers money by eliminating the need for costly
installation, maintenance and upgrades and does not require compliant
action on the part of e-mail recipients.
Availability
RPost’s SideNote™ service is now generally available. Current customers
will automatically have the capability to use this optional new feature.
