Metadata Cleaning

Overview

The metadata cleaning feature removes metadata from an Office file attachment to reduce potential leakage of hidden information saved in that file. Common types of metadata include

» the names of previous document authors and editors,
» times and frequency of any edits and commentaries,
» formatting information
» deleted text

Sender's View

Step 1: Compose a new Message and press the "Send Registered" button.
 
 

Step 2: When the Registered Email feature pop-up appears, select the sending feature "Clean hidden metadata from Office files" on the pop-up. This will clean the meta data from Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint file attachments. Next press the "Send" button.

 

Receiver's View

Step 1: The receiver opens the email like any other message and the attachment now has the hidden metadata cleaned from the file.
